Blackwood spent two years playing for NJCAA institution Navarro College as primarily a forward throughout her scholastic career. At the time she departed, she was a two-time All-American and had 36 goals for her career, enough for sixth place.
Blackwood scored 22 goals in her sophomore year at age 16, which was the seventh-most in a single season in Navarro history. Blackwood played for West Florida Argonauts for two more seasons after transferring there in 2017. She was chosen to the second team of the 2017 GSC All-Stars.
