Don Lind, a former NASA astronaut who assisted in the preparations for the space shuttle launch and the first human moonwalk, passed away at the age of 92.
The Logan, Utah-based Herald Journal was the first to report on Lind’s passing on Tuesday, August 30.

Lind’s cause of death is natural per reports.
“Don is as near to the genuine ‘Renaissance Guy’ as there is in our day and age,” his family stated in an obituary published on Friday. Leonardo da Vinci’s notion of a man who could do everything and do it well (Sep. 2).
Lind joined the “Original Nineteen,” NASA’s sixth class of trainees, when they were chosen in 1966. Eight astronauts from the class, including two future Apollo moonwalkers, traveled to the moon.

His sister Charlene Lind, his seven children Carol Ann, David, Dawna, Douglas, Kimberly, Lisa, and Daniel, as well as his 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, all survive him.
His wife, who passed away on June 12, his grandchild, two sisters, and both of his parents all predeceased him.
