Kodi Smit-McPhee is an Australian actor who rose to prominence as a child actor for his leading roles in The Road and Let Me In.

For his role as Peter Gordon in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, he was nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He later won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Kodi Smit-McPhee was born on June 13, 1996, in Adelaide, South Australia to Sonja Smit and Andy McPhee. His father Andy, is an actor and former professional wrestler.

When he was 16 years old, he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. This is a  degenerative form of arthritis that causes the vertebrae in the spine to fuse which can lead to chronic pain and loss of vision.

Due to his condition, he is blind in his left eye.

He has an older sister named Sianoa Smit-McPhee who is also in the entertainment industry. She is best known for playing the role of Bree Timmins in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.
