Lamar Hunt, was a businessman most known in the United States for his sponsorship of American football, soccer, and tennis.
He was the primary founder of the American Football League (AFL), Major League Soccer (MLS), and the North American Soccer League (NASL), as well as a co-founder of World Championship Tennis.
He also founded and controlled the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL), the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS), and two more MLS teams at the time of his death, Columbus Crew and FC Dallas. Hunt was also instrumental in the establishment of the Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun amusement parks in Kansas City.

Hunt was married twice, the first time to Rosemary Carr. They met as youngsters in Dallas, attended Southern Methodist University together, and married in 1956.
They have two children, Lamar Jr. and Sharron Hunt, together. The couple split in 1962, partly owing to Hunt’s extensive travel schedule.
He married again in 1964. His second wife, Norma Lynn Knobel, was a schoolteacher and Dallas Texans hostess to whom he was married until his death. Clark and Daniel were their two sons. Norma Hunt was one of just a handful of people who attended every Super Bowl from 1967 to 2023.
