Højgaard is currently not married. Højgaard was a member of the squad that captured the McGregor Trophy and the 2016 European Boys’ Team Championship 2016.
He won the 2017 European Boys Team Championship by defeating Spain in the championship match while representing Continental Europe in the Jacques Léglise Trophy competition.

In his debut Challenge Tour competition, the Challenge de Espaa, he finished among the top five runners-up. Despite a few top-10 finishes, he placed 21st in the Order of Merit and was so disqualified from the 2020 European Tour.
