Robert Andre Glasper, a pianist, record producer, songwriter, and musical arranger from the United States, was born on April 6, 1978. His work spans a number of jazz-centric musical and aesthetic genres. Glasper has thus far garnered eleven nominations in eight different categories and five Grammy Awards.

Gerald Glasper is Robert’s father. He was married to Kim Yvette Glasper.
Glasper attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as well as Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas. He played with the jazz band at Texas Southern University when he was in the tenth grade.
He participated in the 1997 Vail Jazz Workshop’s second session before enrolling at New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Bilal, a neo-soul musician, and Glasper met at the New School.
Alongside Glasper’s burgeoning jazz career, they started out playing and recording together, which led to collaborations with various hip-hop and R&B acts.
