One thing that added up to Russell Brand’s fame and popularity was his marriage to famous singer and songwriter Katy Perry. Their marriage was unique but ended sadly based on different reasons.
The couple first met when Katy Perry filmed a cameo for his film Get Him to the Greek, although the cameo was cut from the film they started dating after meeting again at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in September.
Who is Russell Brand’s ex-wife Katy Perry?
Russell Brand and Katy Perry became engaged on New Year’s Eve 2009 during a holiday in India, and married there on 23 October 2010 in a Hindu ceremony, near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan.
Their marriage was going on well, and they even tried one of those couples’ vegan diet stuff and people were cheering them on for their newfound love and happiness. Well, that happiness didn’t last long enough when they hit the world with the news of their divorce on 30 December 2011. Brand filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, which was finalized in July 2012.
There were different issues laying the foundations for their divorce, with Katy Perry revealing that her conflicting career schedules and Perry not feeling ready to have children led to the end of their marriage. She also stated that Brand did not like the idea of her “being the boss” of things.
Before the divorce could be finally termed over, Brand who did not sign a prenuptial agreement, was eligible to claim half of the estimated $44 million she earned during their marriage but declined to state that he was extremely in love with Perry, but after marrying her realized “this isn’t really working out … I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other … it mostly didn’t work for practical reasons.”
