Originally, they were controlled by brain impulses at the amputation sites, but Jesse Sullivan’s skin grafts caused him to become hypersensitive, which made those locations extremely painful.
Neural surgery was performed on Jesse Sullivan to graft nerves that were initially going from his arm to his chest. In order to receive signals from the newly grafted nerve endings, the sensors for his bionic arms have been relocated to the left side of his chest.
